Classic Arts News Wheeldon, Ferri, and Slyde Win Dance Magazine Awards Dance Magazine presented its annual awards to choreographer Christopher Wheeldon, tap dancer Jimmy Slyde, and American Ballet Theatre principal dancer Alessandra Ferri at a ceremony and reception on November 14 at New York's Florence Gould Hall.
Awards were also presented to choreographer Donald McKayle and critic Clive Barnes.

The evening featured performances by Savion Glover, Wendy Whelan, and Lim‹n Dance Company's Roxane D'Orleans Juste. According to the New York Times, Whelan danced a Wheeldon pas de deux with S_bastien Marcovici, and D'Orleans Juste performed a solo from McKayle's Angelitos Negros.

The program also included a film of Alessandra Ferri dancing to music by Bach played by the pop performer Sting.
