News White Rose Reading, with Adams, Ryall, Sonenclar, Spector and Strong, Presented June 16 The York Theatre Company's Developmental Reading Series continues June 16 with a free reading of the new musical The White Rose.

Directed by Jonathan Stuart Cerullo with music direction by Adam Wiggins, the reading will be presented at the Off-Broadway venue at 3 PM.

The cast comprises Ashley Kate Adams, Drew Gehling, Nicholas Marinucci, William Ryall (Guys and Dolls), AJ Shively, Carly Rose Sonenclar (Les Miserables), Jarrod Spector (Jersey Boys) and Allison Strong.

The White Rose features book and lyrics by Jenne Wason and music by Alan Cancelino. The musical, according to press notes, is described as such: "While everyone around them endured in silence, a group of university students chose to speak out against the atrocities happening in their country in Munich in 1942. Sophie Scholl, her brother Hans, and their friends started a resistance movement in a time when movements seemed impossible. Their words offered hope to a desperate nation, and in this new musical drama, their voices live on."

The reading will be presented at the York's home at The Theatre at Saint Peter's on 54th Street, east of Lexington Avenue. Although the reading is free, reservations are required by emailing Jeff Landsman at [email protected] (include name, phone number, the show's title and the number of tickets) or by calling (212) 935-5824, ext. 24.
