PlayBlog Who Will Write Balloon Boy? balloonboySix-year-old Falcon Heene gave the news and online world a scare when it was believed that he somehow made his way onto a runaway balloon built by his storm-chaser parents. His story brings to mind another high-flying adventurist: Larry Walters — the man who tied helium balloons to a lawn chair.

Walters' story inspired a number of theatrical productions: Bridget Carpenter's Up (seen at Steppenwolf Theatre Company), Robert Lindsey Nassif and Peter Ullian's musical Flight of the Lawnchair Man (Goodspeed Musicals and the New York Musical Theatre Festival) and the ensemble-created The Man in the Flying Lawn Chair (78th Street Theatre Lab) among them.

Will Heene's tale bring Balloon Boy to the stage?
