Did theatre fans favor the barricade over Oz? Les Misérables and Wicked went head-to-head in the final round to determine the ultimate longest-running musical.

Our 2018 Broadway Brackets Champion is: Wicked! With 4.56K votes (57 percent), Wicked beat out Les Misérables' 3.40K votes for the champion title.

For Broadway Brackets 2018, Playbill looked at the 16 longest-running shows and placed them into two “divisions”: 1960–1990 and 1991–present. We then tallied the total number of performances and seeded them accordingly.

For example, as of March 20, 2018, The Phantom of the Opera (1988) and the revival of Chicago (1996) have played 12,543 and 8,869 performances, respectively, making them the top-ranking shows in their divisions. They were then paired accordingly with a musical in their division that had the least amount of performances.

Broadway fans were invited to vote for their favorite show in each match-up, with the winning musicals moving on to compete in the next round.
