Variety reports that Goldberg, whose Broadway acting credits include Whoopi, A Funny Thing Happened on the Way to the Forum and Ma Rainey's Black Bottom, is in final negotiations with ABC to join the high-rated morning program. Goldberg would likely fill the spot vacated by Rosie O'Donnell, who spent a controversial season as a "View" co-host. The industry paper also says that comic Sherri Shepherd is also in talks to join the program as a co-host. The chair formerly occupied by Star Jones Reynolds was never filled after the former attorney was fired in 2006.
Barbara Walters, who created "The View," co-hosts the program with Joy Behar and Elizabeth Hasselbeck. The program airs in the metropolitan area on WABC-TV Channel 7 from 11 AM-noon. Check local listings.
