News Wicked Becomes 11th Longest-Running Show in Broadway History Sept. 4 The hit Broadway musical Wicked surpasses Miss Saigon to become the 11th longest-running show in Broadway history when it plays its 4,093rd performance the evening of Sept. 4.

As Wicked approaches its 10th anniversary on Broadway — Oct. 30 at the Gershwin Theatre — there are currently nine productions of the musical worldwide: New York, London, Japan (Tokyo), Australia/New Zealand (Auckland), South Korea (Seoul), Latin America (Mexico City), a U.K. tour, and two concurrent North American national tours.

The Broadway company currently stars Lindsay Mendez as Elphaba, Katie Rose Clarke as Glinda, Derek Klena as Fiyero, Carol Kane as Madame Morrible, Tom McGowan as The Wizard, Catherine Charlebois as Nessarose, John Schiappa as Dr. Dillamond and Michael Wartella as Boq.

Adapted from the novel by Gregory Maguire, Wicked delves into the back story of the iconic characters from Oz. The musical has a score by Stephen Schwartz, a book by Winnie Holzman, direction by Joe Mantello and musical staging by Wayne Cilento. The production also features scenic design by Eugene Lee, costume design by Susan Hilferty, lighting design by Kenneth Posner, sound design by Tony Meola, projections by Elaine J. McCarthy, wig and hair design by Tom Watson, music supervision and arrangements by Stephen Oremus, orchestrations by William David Brohn and dance arrangements by James Lynn Abbott.

Wicked won Tony Awards for Costume Design, Scenic Design and Best Actress in a Musical (Idina Menzel). It was nominated as Best Musical.

The musical is produced by Marc Platt, Universal Pictures, The Araca Group, Jon B. Platt and David Stone.
