PlayBlog Wicked Goes Green in More Ways Than One (Video) The award-winning hit musical Wicked and its efforts to go green (environmentally speaking) will be profiled as part of “The Green Apple: Entertainment,” which will premeiere April 22 at 9 PM ET on NYC Life (Channel 25 in New York).

Below is a clip of host Nick Carr’s visit backstage, where he chats with the cast and crew about everything from using more LED lights in the show’s lighting plot to, yes, a peak at what it’s like for Elphaba to put on that green makeup. (This visit appears to have been filmed when Dee Roscioli and Erin Mackey were playing Elphaba and Glinda, respectively; the show currently stars Mandy Gonzalez and Katie Rose Clarke in those roles).

“The Green Apple: Entertainment” will also visit with other carbon footprint-conscious folks from show business, including the sets of the TV shows “The Good Wife” and “30 Rock,” not to mention the eco-friendly apartment of musician Moby.

If you’re not in New York, the special will be available on the NYC Media Video on Demand Player after it airs. Visit www.nyc.gov/vod.

In the meantime, here’s a sneak peek at the Wicked segment:
