News Wicked’s Thomas to Reprise Songs I'm Not Supposed to Sing July 24 Marty Thomas, who recently concluded a two-year stint in the New York company of Wicked, will perform in concert at the Laurie Beechman Theatre July 24.

Thomas will reprise his Songs I'm Not Supposed to Sing concert, which he previously presented at the Duplex in February. The 7 PM concert will also feature singers Mollie Weaver, Shaun Barker, Rhett George and Kate Pazakis; Rick Leonard will accompany the performers on piano. Songs I'm Not Supposed to Sing, according to press notes, is described as an evening that "lightheartedly confronts the issues of stereotyping and conformity that performers with ‘unexpectedly fabulous’ voices face. . . . [Thomas] shares his own experience of being told what material he should sing, what clothes he should wear and – in general – how he should live. Through music – specifically those songs and roles he’s been told not to sing – he finds his own distinctive voice in defying convention and being true to himself."

Marty Thomas has appeared on Broadway in The Secret Garden and Wicked. He is a Grammy-nominated recording artist who was named the 1992 Junior Vocalist champion on the original “Star Search” series. His self-titled solo CD is now available. Visit www.martythomas.com for more information.

The Laurie Beechman Theatre is located at 407 West 42nd Street at 9th Avenue. There is a $15 cover and a two-drink minimum; call (212) 95-6909 for reservations.
