News Wild Party's Lippa Likely to Pen Songs for Chenoweth "Asphalt Beach" Andrew Lippa, who wrote the score for the Off-Broadway production of The Wild Party, may soon make his silver-screen songwriting debut.

A representative for the award-winning composer confirmed to Playbill On-Line that Lippa is in negotiations to pen several songs for the upcoming movie musical "Asphalt Beach." As previously reported, that film will co-star Wicked Tony nominee Kristin Chenoweth. Directed by Peter Spears, the motion picture is described as "being in the spirit of Hairspray and Grease." Similar to the Wicked storyline, the feature film concerns two girls whose paths cross at school. The young women are from different ends of the social spectrum; Chenoweth, of course, will play the "spoiled rich girl."

Andrew Lippa has written the scores for the Off-Broadway productions of The Wild Party and john & jen. He also contributed songs to the Broadway revival of You're a Good Man, Charlie Brown. Lippa is currently at work on two new musicals, A Little Princess and Jerry Christmas.
