News Wilkof, O'Hara, Henry and More Set for Little Egypt at NYMF Actor and songwriter Greg Henry, whose film credits include "Slither" and "United 93," will take to the New York stage when his musical Little Egypt makes its New York debut as part of the New York Musical Theatre Festival.

Henry, who has also provided music and lyrics for Little Egypt with a book by Lynn Siefert, will star in the NYMF production with fellow cast members Lisa Akey, Gregg Henry, Jenny O'Hara, Sara Rue, Raphael Sbarge and Lee Wilkof.

Little Egypt, based on Siefert's original play, centers on "a shy mall security guard [who] woos an even shyer waitress in this tragicomic tale of geek love set in Little Egypt, Illinois in the early 1980s," press notes state. "Pushed together and then pulled apart by their brash, oversexed relatives and their own crippling insecurities, will misfit knight Victor win damsel Celeste's heart? Little Egypt follows the full ride of love: funny, sad and, when you least expect it, magical."

Lisa James, wife of Greg Henry and co-producer of Little Egypt, directs the NYMF mounting with a creative team including set designer Lex Liang, costume designer Vicki Sanchez, lighting designer Brian Gale and sound designer Duncan Cutler. Robert Martin will serve as musical director.

Little Egypt received its original workshop production at Los Angeles' Matrix Theater, where it earned five awards, including best direction for Lisa James.

Little Egypt will run Sept. 27–Oct. 5 at the Acorn Theatre, located at 410 West 42nd Street in Manhattan. Tickets are available by calling (212) 352-3101 or by visiting www.nymf.org.
