PlayBlog Will Halle Berry Make Her Broadway Debut in The Mountaintop? Academy Award-winning actress Halle Berry may be eyeing a Broadway debut, according to the New York Post.

The Post reports that Berry is being wooed by producers of The Mountaintop, Katori Hall’s Olivier Award-winning drama about Martin Luther King, Jr.’s final hours, to appear in the play when it debuts on Broadway this fall.

Berry would play a mysterious maid who visits King in a Memphis hotel room the night before his assassination.

Tony winner Anika Noni Rose read the role at a reading of the play at the William Inge Theatre Festival in April. As the Post and Playbill.com previously reported, Samuel L. Jackson read the role of King at a recent New York reading, which seems to bode well for his being cast in the part in the Broadway production, which will be directed by Tony nominee Kenny Leon of Fences.
