News Williams and Perez to Conspire in Othello for Shakespeare on the Sound Victor Williams and Jesse Perez will co-star in Othello, featuring songs by Tony Award winner Stew, for Shakespeare on the Sound this summer.

The Connecticut-based theatre company, under the artistic leadership of Joanna Settle (9 Parts of Desire, In Darfur), will stage Othello outdoors from June 15-July 11 in Rowaytown and Greenwich parks.

Williams ("King of Queens," "ER") will star in the title role, with Perez (Recent Tragic Events, Barrio Girl) as Iago. Perez appeared as Puck in Midsummer Night's Dream for Shakespeare on the Sound in 2009, which also featured music by Stew.

Othello will feature scenic design by Andrew Lieberman, who also rendered designs for Midsummer.

"No one had ever been brave (or crazy) enough to give me the opportunity to do anything with Shakespeare until Joanna asked if I wanted to come along on her Midsummer ride last year," Stew said in a statement. "I am forever indebted to her for creating the kind of trusting and open artistic environment that allowed me to work with Big Willy on my own rock and roll terms. As a result of our work on Midsummer, Shake has become my homey and I'd like to work with him (and Joanna) as much as possible. Othello is my next chance."

Stew and Settle's collaboration on Midsummer resulted in a recording of songs from the production, featuring vocals by the Passing Strange star. Othello will play Pinkney Park in Rowayton, CT, June 15-26; and Baldwin Park in Greenwich, CT, July 2-11.
