Film crews traveled to various locations so winners could give acceptance speeches without crossing picket lines. Variety reports that Robin Williams gave his speech while on a USO tour in Kabul, and the musical group Rascal Flatts accepted their award at Nashville's Country Music Hall of Fame.

Stage and screen star Chandra Wilson, whose Broadway credits include Avenue Q and Caroline, or Change, won the Scene Stealer Award for her work on "Grey's Anatomy." Also of interest to theatre fans is the award winner in the Song from a Soundtrack category: "You Can't Stop the Beat" from "Hairspray."

The People's Choice Awards are determined by the viewing public. TV and film watchers vote on-line.
