When the tour of the Cy Coleman musical — starring Molly Ringwald in the title role — arrives in Salk Lake City, UT, on Nov. 17, Wilson will assume the role of Vittorio Vidal.
Aaron Ramey, who created the role of Vittorio for the touring production, will return to the company in mid-February after he completes a production of The Three Musketeers at the Chicago Shakespeare Theatre.
In addition to his Broadway credits, Steve Wilson has also been seen in productions of The Rivals, 1776 and The Philadelphia Story. He also played Oscar in the North Shore Music Theatre's production of Sweet Charity.
The Sweet Charity tour, which launched in September at San Diego's Civic Theatre, also features Adam Perry, Ben Cameron, Amanda Watkins (as Nickie), Kisha Howard (as Helene), Richard Ruiz (as Herman), Angel Reda, Nova Bergeron, Kathryn Mowat Murphy, Guy Adkins (as Oscar), David Glaspie (as Daddy), Angel Reda, Laquet Sharnell, Colin Cunliffe, Keven Quillon, Sae La Chin, Rhea Patterson, Tonya Wathen, Nova Bergeron and Merrit Tyler Hawkins.
The tour is based on the Walter Bobbie Broadway production that closed at the Al Hirschfeld Theatre Dec. 31, 2005. The show was nominated for Best Revival of a Musical Tony Award.
