News Wing-Davey to Direct Ruhl's Passion Play for Yale Rep Mark Wing-Davey will stage a new production of Sarah Ruhl's Passion Play for Yale Rep's 2008-2009 season.

While the complete season for Yale Rep is forthcoming, press representatives confirmed that Wing-Davey, most recently represented with the LAByrinth Theater Company's Unconditional, will helm the Ruhl work for the Connecticut theatre company. Wing-Davey also staged Passion Play for the Goodman Theatre this past season.

Passion Play, Ruhl's three-act epic — which begins in 1575 England, leaps to 1934 Germany and finally to contemporary America — utilizes the depiction of the final days of Christ to explore the relationship between faith and politics.

Originally penned as two one-acts, Ruhl was commissioned by Washington, D.C.'s Arena Stage to create the third, and final act for Passion Play.

Ruhl returns to Yale Rep having presented the world premiere of The Clean House and Eurydice there, prior to their Off-Broadway incarnations.

Casting and dates for Passion Play will be announced at a later date along with the 2008-2009 season for Yale Rep. Sarah Ruhl, currently represented Off-Broadway with Dead Man's Cell Phone, is a Pulitzer Prize finalist whose works include The Clean House, Eurydice, Lady with the Lap Dog and Anna Round the Neck, Late: A Cowboy Song, Orlando and Melancholy Play.
