News Winston and Wheeler Team Up for The Lady Herself Nov. 13 and 14 Husband and wife artists Harold Wheeler and Hattie Winston will team up for two evenings of cabaret Nov. 13 and 14 at the Alex Theatre in Glendale, CA.

Winston, whose Broadway credits include The Tap Dance Kid and I Love My Wife, will offer The Lady Herself, which relates her life in song. The evening — part of "Hattie and Harold's On Stage Cabaret" series — will feature a mix of show tunes, contemporary songs and Blues favorites. Tony-nominated orchestrator Wheeler will accompany Winston on piano. Show time is 8:30 PM. In a statement, Winston said, "I prepare and approach my cabaret show, as I would prepare for a play. I give the show a creative arc with a distinct beginning, middle and end. One of the things that is missing in Los Angeles, unlike New York where I have lived a great many years of my life, are more places where people can go to dress up and hear some good music. Our cabaret series is very unique in Los Angeles, in that the audience actually is seated on the stage with the performers, for a more intimate concert going experience. Our venue is very elegant, with beautifully draped tables and flowers, and yet informal at the same time."

Hattie Winston has appeared in the Broadway productions of The Tap Dance Kid, I Love My Wife, Scapino, Two Gentlemen of Verona, The Me Nobody Knows, Does a Tiger Wear a Necktie? and Hair. Harold Wheeler's recent Broadway orchestration credits include Hairspray, Dreamgirls, The Full Monty, Swing!, Little Me, Side Show and The Life. He was Tony-nominated for his orchestrations for Hairspray, The Full Monty, Swing!, Little Me and The Life.

The Alex Theatre is located at 216 North Brand Boulevard in Glendale, CA. Tickets are priced at $45 (Nov. 13) and $55 (Nov. 14) and may be purchased by calling (818) 243-2539 or by visiting www.alextheatre.org.
