News Witches of Eastwick to Close in London Oct. 27

The Witches of Eastwick has announced that it is to close on Oct. 27. Despite very positive reaction to the revitalized production of The Witches of Eastwick after its transfer to the Prince of Wales, and to Clarke Peters' performance in the lead role, the musical has become the latest early closure in the West End and will give its last performance on Oct. 27. Witches opened at the Theatre Royal Drury Lane on July 18, 2000, before transferring a year later to the Prince of Wales Theatre where it opened on July 17, 2001. The transfer was designed to create a more intimate feel to the show, which also received new tunes, and some cast changes.

The Witches Of Eastwick, acclaimed by the critics as "A Truly Magical Show", "Devilishly Good", "Wonderful Fun" and "Musical Comedy Heaven," currently features Clarke Peters as Darryl van Horne, Josefina Gabrielle as Alexandra, Rebecca Thornhill as Sukie, and Joanna Riding as Jane.

The Full Monty will be arriving at the Prince of Wales in February: meanwhile it is understood that the theatre is looking for another show to fill in the gap that will be left by The Witches of Eastwick's premature departure.
