Founded in 1993, the awards pay tribute to the art of costume design and honor legendary designer Irene Sharaff, who designed numerous Broadway productions, including the original stagings of Lady in the Dark, West Side Story, The King and I, Juno, Sweet Charity, Funny Girl, Candide and Jerome Robbins' Broadway. The presentation begins at 6:30 PM.

The 2010 recipients include Albert Wolsky, who designed the Broadway productions of Sly Fox, The Country Girl and The Sunshine Boys, and also earned the Academy Award for his designs on "All That Jazz" and "Bugsy." He is the recipient of the TDF/Irene Sharaff Lifetime Achievement Award for Costume Design.

Ming Cho Lee, the recipient of the TDF/Irene Sharaff Robert L.B. Tobin Award for Sustained Excellence in Theatrical Design, was the principal designer for Joseph Papp's New York Shakespeare Festival from 1962-1973 and rendered designs for Broadway's K2, The Glass Menagerie, The Shadow Box, The Grand Tour and Do Re Mi.

The TDF/Irene Sharaff Young Master Award is presented to Alejo Vietti, who has designed the New York productions of Nightingale, Rooms, Grace, The Last Sunday in June and Make Me a Song. Vietti will design the upcoming New York City Opera production of the Stephen Schwartz opera Séance on a Wet Afternoon.

John David Ridge, former vice president and design director of Halston and owner of the Hollywood costume shop that bears his name, is the recipient of the TDF/Irene Sharaff Artisan Award. Ridge has designed costumes for the Broadway productions of Ring Round the Moon, Dracula, Scapin, Next Time I'll Sing to You and served as associate designer on Amadeus. The awards also honor late designer Randy Barcelo (Lenny, Jesus Christ Superstar, The Magic Show, Sergeant Pepper Lonely Hearts Club Band) with a short original film on his life created by Suzy Benzinger and Drew Scott Harris.
