For the company's 35th season, the Women's Project will take up residence at New York City Center Stage II, which was recently vacated by the Pearl Theatre Company. Julie Crosby is the producing artistic director of the Women's Project.
The season opens with the world premiere of Laura Marks' dark comedy Bethany, directed by Gaye Taylor Upchurch, Jan. 11-Feb. 17, 2013. "Set in an American exurb wiped out by foreclosures, a financially-strapped single mother discovers just how far she'll go to regain what she has lost," according to the Off-Broadway company.
Jelinek's Jackie, directed by Tea Alagic, will receive its North American premiere Feb. 24-March 31, 2013. It promises "an intensely theatrical dissection of Jackie Kennedy Onassis and the myths surrounding her well-coiffed veneer... Jackie is a disturbing exploration of submission, power, and the hypocrisy of everyday life."
The final production will be Allison Moore's The Collapse, inspired by the 2007 collapse of the Mississippi River Bridge in Minneapolis, which will run April 7-May 19, 2013. Jackson Gay directs the New York premiere, which is billed as "comedic exploration of the crumbling structures that undergird our bridges, our economy, and our most intimate relationships."
