News Workshop of New Musical Blue Velvet, Inspired by David Lynch Film, Set for November TheatreNOW Productions will present a workshop of Blue Velvet, the Musical Nov. 10-13, as part of the Cucalorus Film Festival in North Carolina.

Inspired by the David Lynch cult classic, the new musical features music and lyrics by Bryan Putnam, the composer and librettist of The Toymaker, with a book by Anthony Lawson. Alisa Harris produces.

The creative team, according to press notes, have conspired to "recreate the sadistic, seedy, sexy and sometimes silly goings on in the underbelly of Lumberton, USA." The workshop will feature the full score, songs and script in a bare-bones presentation.

Casting will be announced at a later date.

A warning for the workshop says the musical contains "adult themes, language and some nudity. 18+ recommended only."

Passes to the workshop are available by visiting http://www.cucalorus.org/passes.asp For more information visit www.bluevelvetmusical.com.
