The musical, which features music by Craig Adams and book and lyrics by Nona Sheppard (the latter of whom also directs), will begin performances March 25 prior to an official opening March 27, for a run through April 19.

Originally workshopped as part of the Vibrant 2012 festival at the Finborough, the musical is set in 19th century Paris. Behind the counter of a small dusty haberdasher's shop near the Seine in the dank, narrow Passage du Pont Neuf, sit Madame Raquin and her beautiful niece Thérèse whom she has married off to her sickly son Camille in a loveless match. While he is out working, Thérèse serves in the shop and the monotony is only broken on Thursday nights, when Madame plays dominoes with a strange assortment of old friends.

On one such Thursday, Camille brings a childhood friend to the party - the bluff and attractive Laurent. He inspires such an incredibly powerful passion in Thérèse that she abandons all her inhibitions and her loyalties. This brutal and overwhelming passion overturns all their lives and has results nobody could have foreseen.

The company of 12 also features Lila Clements, Claire Greenway, Ellie Kirk, Gary Tushaw, Verity Quade and Matt Wilman.

Atherton, who plays the title role, has appeared in the West End in the original cast of Avenue Q, as well as Mamma Mia! and Fame. Regional credits include The Hired Man in Colchester and Leicester and the U.K. tour of Sister Act. She has previously appeared at the Finborough in the U.K. premiere of Ordinary Days that was subsequently seen at the Trafalgar Studios. Hugo, who plays Madame Raquin, was Olivier-nominated for her role in Threepenny Opera (Donmar Warehouse). Other London credits include Legacy Falls at the New Players Theare and La Cage Aux Folles.

Legat, who plays Camille, has been seen in the West End in Wicked at the Apollo Victoria Theatre. Other credits include Peter Pan at Richmond Theatre and Curtains at the Landor.

Lewis, who plays Laurent, played the Phantom in the Australian premiere of Love Never Dies and also starred in Australian productions of A Little Night Music, Spamalot and Priscilla Queen the Desert. He recently appeared in London in Candide at the Menier Chocolate Factory.
