Allan Byrns' Trumpet to the Moon ends its world premiere engagement at the Knightsbridge Pasadena Theatre on Oct. 15. Performances began Sept. 1. Karesa McElherty directs.
The backstage comedy deals with a troupe of Shakesperean actors in Elizabethan times who are in the final "hell" week of rehearsal before the world premiere production of Hamlet. Among the problems facing the company is Shakespeare's killer case of writer's block.
Byrns has credits as producer and writer in features, television and award shows for Billy Wilder, Peter Fonda and Milton Berle. McElheny's most recent directorial credit was for The Road to Nirvana.
Trumpet to the Moon played in rep with Robert Bolt's A Man For All Seasons, which ran through Sept. 24 and was directed by Robert Craig and stars Don Schlossman and James Rice.
