Classic Arts News WQXR to Broadcast Vienna Philharmonic's Mozart Birthday Concert New York's WQXR 96.3 FM will broadcast the Vienna Philharmonic's concert in Salzburg, Austria, celebrating the 250th anniversary of Mozart's birth on January 27, the radio station announced.
The concert will feature performances by soprano Ren_e Fleming, baritone Thomas Hampson, pianist Mitsuko Uchida, violinist Gidon Kremer, and violist Yuri Bashmet. Riccardo Muti conducts. The program includes the Piano Concerto No. 25, the Symphony in D major ("Haffner"), concert arias, and excerpts from The Marriage of Figaro and Don Giovanni.

The broadcast will also include extended intermission festivities celebrating the hour of Mozart's birth through Salzburg, the composer's hometown.

The live broadcast begins at 12 p.m. ET. For listeners outside of New York City, WQXR can be heard over the Internet at www.wqxr.com or through the WFMT Radio Network. Check local listings.

The broadcast is part of a week of broadcasts from Salzburg, including reports from host Jeff Spurgeon and live and taped concerts.
