Stratford Shakespeare Festival favorite Geraint Wyn Davies will take on choice Shakespeare roles in the 2009 season, the festival announced Oct. 7.

Additional 2009 casting was announced, including Yanna McIntosh as Lady Macbeth opposite the previously announced Colm Feore in the title role of Macbeth. Artistic director Des McAnuff will direct the bloody tragedy at the Festival Theatre.

In Macbeth, McIntosh and Feore will share the stage with Wyn Davies, who will play Duncan. They will be joined by Dion Johnstone as Macduff, Gareth Potter as Malcolm, and Sophia Walker as Lady Macduff. It will officially open the Stratford Shakespeare Festival's 2009 season on June 1.

Wyn Davies will play the title role in Julius Caesar, with Ben Carlson as Brutus, Jonathan Goad as Mark Antony, and Tom Rooney as Cassius. They will be joined by Yanna McIntosh as Calphurnia and Cara Ricketts as Portia. James MacDonald will direct at the Avon Theatre.

Wyn Davies' third featured role in 2009 is Bottom in A Midsummer Night's Dream. Also in Midsummer, expect Dion Johnstone as Oberon; Yanna McIntosh as Titania; Tom Rooney as Puck; Laura Condlln as Helena; Gareth Potter as Lysander and Sophia Walker as Hermia.

A Midsummer Night's Dream will be directed by David Grindley and will run in the Festival Theatre starting Aug. 7, 2009. Wyn Davies will return to Stratford for his sixth season. In 2008 he played Polonius in Hamlet and King Ferdinand in Fuente Ovejuna. His other Stratford credits over the years include Henry Higgins in My Fair Lady, and the title roles in Pericles and Henry V. His television and film work includes "ReGenesis," "Murdoch Mysteries," "24," "Slings and Arrows," "Black Harbour," "Tracker," "Airwolf," "Forever Knight," "American Psycho II," "Ghost Mom," "Post Mortem" and "Hypercube."

In addition to Julius Caesar, Macbeth and A Midsummer Night's Dream, the 2009 season will feature West Side Story; Cyrano de Bergerac; A Funny Thing Happened on the Way to the Forum; The Importance of Being Earnest; Ever Yours, Oscar; Bartholomew Fair; Three Sisters; Phèdre; The Trespassers; Rice Boy and Zastrozzi.

The current 2008 season continues until Nov. 9.
