"Clowns Of Horror" Mump and Smoot play Something Else with Zug through Oct. 7 at the Yale Repertory Theatre in New Haven, Conn. Mump and Snoot opened Yale Rep's 35th season with the show on Sept. 14.

Yale School of Drama and Yale Repertory Theatre's artistic director Stan Wojewodski, Jr. said that Mump and Smoot's work is "a terrific amalgam of imaginative innovation and centuries-old traditions of clowning."

Yale associate artists Mump and Smoot (Michael Kennard and John Turner) have performed to sold-out audiences throughout Canada and the U.S. According to production notes, Something Else with Zug is "performed entirely in Ummonian, an invented language native to their universe and the tongue of the clowns' god, Ummo. Unable to summon Ummo, the mischievous clowns become exasperated and desperate, unleashing a menacing genie named Zug from his magic lamp."

In addition to Kennard and Turner, the cast features Christian Laurin (Zug) who co-founded R & B Productions and is the co-creator of the clown show Penitentiary of Love. Laurin's theater credits include Dante's Inferno and In the Wings of Eden at Theatre Smith-Gilmour, Fallen Angels at Theatre Aquarius, Le Malade Imaginaire and Les Precieuses at Theatre Francais de Toronto, and Fou for Ummo Productions. Also featured in the cast are Greg Morrison (Fingers) and Scott Macdonald (Scurry).

Karen Hines helms the show and has directed all of the Mump and Smoot shows to date. The creative team for Something Else with Zug comprises associate director Jim Warren, musical director Greg Morrison (original score), lighting designer and stage manager Michel Charbonneau, scenic designer Campbell Manning, and movement coach Fiona Griffiths. Tickets range from $10 - $36. Subscription packages range from $60 - $220. Yale Rep is located in the University Theatre, located at 222 York St. in New Haven.
