Tony Award-winning Urinetown writers Greg Kotis and Mark Hollmann will return to The New York International Fringe Festival this summer. Their latest musical, Yeast Nation, is among the titles selected for the August festival of edgy theatre.

Yeast Nation (the triumph of life) will be presented as part of FringeNYC, which will run Aug. 12-28 at venues across New York City. According to FringeNYC, "Yeast Nation is an original 15-performer musical set on the bottom of the primordial sea that tells the tale of earth’s first creatures as they struggle to survive and, ultimately, evolve."

Urinetown debuted at the Fringe Festival in 1999, where it played an extended run and took the Overall Excellence Award for a Musical. It later transferred Off-Broadway to the American Theatre of Actors on April 1, 2001, and transferred to Broadway in July 2001 to the Henry Miller's Theatre, where it ran for 965 performances. It earned Tony Awards for Best Book (Kotis), Best Score (Hollmann) and Best Direction (John Rando).

Other titles selected for the 2011 FringeNYC are Jersey Shoresical: A Frickin' Rock Opera; I Light Up My Life: the Mark Sam Celebrity Autobiography; Bette Davis Ain't For Sissies; Epic Win Burlesque's The Star Debate: Trek vs. Wars; facebook me; Romeo & Juliet: Choose Your Own Ending; The Chalks: An American Family in 3 Chords; Winner Take All (A Rock Opera); and Zombie Wedding.
