August Wilson's Gem of the Ocean, Road Theatre Company's The Woman in Black and Reprise! Broadway's Best in Concert's stagings of Anything Goes and She Loves Me are among the productions with multiple nominations.
The ceremony this year will again be held at the Orpheum Theatre on Broadway in the downtown Los Angeles historic theatre district, Nov. 23. Ed Waterstreet, co-founding artistic director of Deaf West Theatre will receive a special James A. Doolittle Award for Leadership in the Theatre, and the Career Achievement Award will go to Gordon Davidson, artistic director of the Center Theatre Group/ Mark Taper Forum and producing director of CTG/ Ahmanson Theatre.
The peer-judged Ovation Awards, established in 1989, honor "artistic excellence of L.A.’s theatres and theatre artists, and their continuing contribution to the vibrant cultural scene."
