News York Presents Free Reading of Fairest of Them All Musical Sept. 20 The York Theatre Company's Developmental Reading Series continues Sept. 20 with Fairest of Them All.

The new musical — with book, music and lyrics by Tyler M. Phillips — will be presented at 7:30 PM in the York's home at the Citigroup Center. Brian Blythe will direct a cast comprising Jenna Uskowitz, Chris Gleim, Patricia Dell, Rob Richardson, Crystal John, Chloe Kayhill and Kevin Wallace. The latter is also the show's musical director.

Fairest of Them All, according to production notes, "tells the interwoven stories of Snow White, the Brave Little Tailor and Doctor Knowall. . . . the characters' storybook world is gradually slipping into a crack in the world, leaving them armed with only their strongest traits — which are also their greatest weaknesses."

The composer, who is also a performer and instrumentalist, is currently attending Northeast School of the Arts, a program in the arts at the Robert E. Lee High School in Antonio, TX. About the young composer, York Producing Artistic Director Jim Morgan said in a statement, "I think it's safe to say that Tyler is the youngest writer of musical theatre represented in New York City, both on- and Off-Broadway and at various festivals. We're thrilled to be presenting the New York premiere of this exceptionally talented writer. We are constantly on the lookout for new voices in musical theatre, and the more young people writing musicals we can encourage, the better off the art form will be in the future.  In the works is a series or festival of musicals by writers 20 and younger."

The York Theatre Company is located at Saint Peter's Theatre in Citigroup Center at 619 Lexington Avenue. There is no admission charge; call (212) 935-5824, ext. 24 for reservations. Visit www.yorktheatre.org for more information.
