News York Theatre Co. Stages Reading of New Musical, Proof, May 1 Call this the season of "same" name shows. Though both new shows are being staged, keeping the two separate may be easier since one Proof is a drama and the other Proof is a musical.

Proof the musical will have a staged reading on May 1 at 5:30 PM at the York Theatre Company at St. Peter's, Citicorp Center. The 75-minute reading will be done with no intermission.

Described as a musical about life and math, Proof was written by Joanne Sydney Lessner (book and lyrics) and Joshua Rosenblum (music and lyrics).

Meanwhile, at Manhattan Theatre Club, David Auburn's Proof, the drama, will begin previews on May 2 featuring Larry Bryggman, Johanna Day, Ben Shenkman and Mary-Louise Parker.

In the reading of Lessner and Rosenblum's musical, F. Paul Driscoll will direct cast members Tom Beckett, David de Jong, Jonathan Rabb, Chris Thompson, Christianne Tiosdale, Barbara Walsh and Carrie Wilhusen. Admission is free.
