News York's Free Musical Conversations Series Kicks Off Fall Series Sept. 11 "Films That Became Broadway Musicals" is the topic of the fall Musical Conversations series, which kicks off Sept. 11.

The series is hosted by John Kenrick, the musical theatre lover who created Musicals101.com. The four evenings, which all begin at 7:30 PM, follow:

Sept. 11: From Screen to Stage: Films that became Broadway Musicals. "Many stage musicals have been adapted for the screen, but screen projects now inspire many of the latest theatrical musicals. Kenrick will examine how far back this 'new' trend goes, and the answer may surprise you."

Sept. 25: A Helluva Town: Musicals in New York. "New York is not only the theatrical capital of the world – it's also the setting for many of the best stage and screen musicals of all time. This talk celebrates the longstanding relationship between musicals and the Big Apple."

Oct. 9: Lets Get Physical: Sports in Musicals. "Damn Yankees, The Body Beautiful, All American – so many musicals on stage and screen have set sports to music! A look back on a rich and entertaining legacy, recalling some winners and a few minor league efforts."

Oct. 23: Vive La France: The French Influence on Musicals "The musical as we know it was born in France, and that country's influence on the art form continues to this day. From Offenbach to Schonberg & Boublil, Kenrick cover the longtime alliance between Broadway and the Champs Elysees." All Conversations will take place at The Theatre at Saint Peter's, located in Manhattan at 54th Street, east of Lexington Avenue.
