News York's Sweet William Reading to Feature Gertner, Steggert, DeMattis and More The York Theatre Company's Developmental Reading Series will continue June 2 with a free reading of the new musical Sweet William.

Directed by Adam Fitzgerald, the reading will boast the talents of Jared Gertner (…Spelling Bee), Ray DeMattis (Enter Laughing: The Musical), Matthew Labanca (Young Frankenstein), Matt Leisy, Bobby Steggert (110 in the Shade), Carl Anthony Tramon, Cassie Wooley and David Weitzer. Show time is 7:30 PM. Barbara Anselmi is the musical director.

Sweet William features a book by Bill Solly and Donald Ward and music and lyrics by Bill Solly. The musical, according to press notes, concerns "the young Will Shakespeare [who] goes on the road with the Stratford Players and meets a girl called William. Along the way he also has to cope with a vicious boy-player, several theatrical crises, unexpected romance and a bear."

The reading will be presented at the York's home at The Theatre at Saint Peter's on 54th Street, east of Lexington Avenue.
