LOS ANGELES -- Does Los Angeles need more Room Service?

Apparently it does, since an Actors Alley production of the John Murray Allen Boretz 1937 farce has just been extended a week psat its June 7 close to June 14. This mounting follows on the heels of a major production at the Mark Taper Forum last fall, starring The Flying Karamazov Brothers.

The comedy opened Apr. 17 at the Actors Alley's storefront theatre performance space, after starting previews Apr. 9. Artistic director Jeremiah Morris is directing the production. He feels there is a whole generation of theatregoers whose only reference to this classic is the adaptation seen recently at the Taper. "I felt people would be interested in the original version staged with the original text in the period in which it was written," he said.

Starring are Alan Altshuld, Neil Cox, Brent Crawford, John Hugo, Jason Kelly, David Mingrino, Jill Simon, Tony C. Burton, Dana Craig, Joe Garcia, Edward Ilsen, Summer Litwin, John Edwin Shaw and Lila Waters. Designing the show are Richard Scully (set), Lisa Ann Orkin (props), Diane Ross (costumes) and Peter Strauss (lighting).

Performances are Thu.-Sat. at 8 PM and Sun. at 2 PM at Actors Alley at El Portal, 5269 Lankershim Blvd., N. Hollywood. For tickets, $16, call (818) 508-4200. -- By Willard Manus
