The York Theatre Company will host the University of Hartford's Hartt School performing a new sung-through musical, Battleship Potemkin, based on the landmark 1925 silent film by Sergei Eisenstein, 1:30 PM & 6:30 PM Jan. 30. The concert performances are free.

The musical, by composer Eric Allaman and lyricist-librettist Jeffrey Couchman tells of a young sailor during the Russian Revolution.

The Hartt School presented the first production of the musical following workshops and readings at Tennessee Repertory Theatre and The New Harmony Project in Indiana.

The cast of 42 students, directed by Henry Fonte and musical directed by Michael Morris, will perform in the sanctuary of Saint Peter's Church in the Citicorp Center, above the York's basement space, at 54th Street and Lexington Avenue.
