Performances are set to begin Jan. 19, 2016 at MTC at New York City Center – Stage I. An official opening night is scheduled for Feb. 9.

Written and directed by Shanley, the play is billed as an "explosive portrait of a young man on the verge of salvation or destruction." The story follows a teenage boy from the Bronx, played by Chalamet, who is suddenly thrown into the world of a private school in New Hampshire. Violent, gifted, lonely and alienated, he prompts his teacher, played by Leonard, to struggle with the question of whether he is a genius or a train wreck.

The cast will also feature Annika Boras (Chair), Chris McGarry (Doubt) and David Potters, making his New York stage debut. The creative team features Santo Loquasto (scenic design), Ann Roth (costume design), Natasha Katz (lighting design) and Fitz Patton (sound design).

Shanley is the author of the Pulitzer and Tony Award-winning Doubt and the Oscar-winning film "Moonstruck," starring Cher. He was nominated for an Academy Award again in 2009 for the adapted screenplay to his stage work, "Doubt," a film version starring Meryl Streep and Philip Seymour Hoffman.
