News Young Performers Sing New Show Tunes in Metropolitan Music Revue June 20 at the York Looking for a feast of new show tunes? Young performers will serve varied songs from new and recent musicals in a unique revue, Metropolitan Music, at The York Theatre Company June 20.

Marymount Manhattan College's "Marymount at the York" summer workshop culminates in the revue of songs — dubbed "a celebration of new writers and new performers in musical theatre" — performed by students at The York's Off-Broadway home.

The program is a three-week summer intensive for performers aged 18-27, culminating in the revue. Admission is $5.

"The program this summer consisted of a daily dance class, a performance class featuring material from classic musicals and afternoon rehearsals for a musical revue," said Pat Simon of Marymount. "Students also got to see many musicals on and off Broadway and attended seminars with theatre professionals."

Simon said the material in this year's revue consists of songs that made their debut at The York or at Marymount in the new musicals program. The director of the revue is Robert Durkin, the musical director is Steve Silverstein.

Songs being performed in the revue include "Hey There, Let's All Have a Little Fun," "Hey, Buckaroo" and "Beautiful Song," from The Jell-O Is Always Red, music and lyrics by Clark Gesner; "Broadway" from Hoods and Hoofers, music and lyrics by Robert Lindsey Nassif; "The Pictures I Draw" from The Human Heart, music by Steven Silverstein, lyrics by Michael Colby; "I'm Your Man" from Meet John Doe, music by Andrew Gerle, lyrics by Ed Sugarman; "Metropolitan Music," music and lyrics by Paul Scott Goodman; "Walking to School" from Suburb, music by Robert S. Cohen, lyrics by David Javerbaum; "Love Would Just Get in the Way" from Cupid & Psche, music by Jihwan Kim, lyrics by Sean Hartley; "I'm Not" and "Popcorn" from Little By Little, music by Brad Ross, lyrics by Ha; Hackady; "Who Wears These Clothes" from The Times, music by Brad Ross, lyrics by Joe Keenan; "I Ought to Cry" from Little By Little, music by Brad Ross, lyric by Ellen Greenfield; "Easy" from Continental Divide, music by Jeffrey Saver, lyrics by Stephen Cole; "Math Widow" from Fermat's Last Tango, music by Joshua Rosenblum, lyrics by Joanne Sydney Lessner; "I Know" from Children's Letters to God, music by David Evans, lyrics by Douglas J.
