Taccone (Bridge & Tunnel) stages the new work, a co-production with Zorro Productions, Inc. and Berkeley Repertory Theatre, at La Jolla's Sheila and Hughes Potiker Theatre through Oct. 29. Opening night is Oct. 4
Written and performed by the performance troupe of Richard Montoya, Ric Salinas, and Herbert Siguenza (Culture Clash in AmeriCCa), Zorro in Hell offers their "Latin look behind the mask of this mainstream icon" as he "rides out of the pages of pulp fiction, through the Hollywood image machine and beyond the barriers of class, race and ethnicity to become a hero for the oppressed in every land," as production notes reveal.
The cast also features Joseph Kamal (Charles Mee's Fêtes de la Nuit), Sharon Lockwood (The Alchemist) and Vincent Christopher Montoya (The Birds).
The design team includes Christopher Acebo (scenic), Christal Weatherly (costume), Alexander V. Nichols (lighting) and Robbin E. Broad (sound). The stage manager is Kimberly Mark Webb.
