DESCRIPTION

Hunger & Thirst Theatre (www.hungerandthirsttheatre.com) is seeking actors for their Spring 2022 project: DISCUS by Becca Schlossberg, directed by Jenn Susi. DISCUS is a thoughtfully fierce retelling of the myth of Apollo and Hyacinth; a synopsis is available at: https://www.hungerandthirsttheatre.com/future-projects

Auditions will be held on Saturday January 22nd from 11-4PM in midtown Manhattan. Callbacks will be on Tuesday January 25 from 6-9PM. Rehearsals start on February 15th, 2022. Performances are scheduled for March 19-26, 2022 at the Jeffrey and Paula Gural Theatre in the A.R.T/NY Theatres.

The four available roles are:

ZEPHYRUS - god of the Western wind (Female)

NOTOS - god of the Southern wind (Open to all gender identities)

BOREAS - god of the Northern wind (Open to all gender identities)

HADES - god of the Underworld (Open to all gender identities)

Because the story centers on a queer relationship, we strongly encourage actors from the LGBTQIA+ community to apply. At this time, we are most interested in seeing actors from historically underrepresented communities: specifically BIPOC, female, non-binary, and trans artists.

DISCUS will be performed as an AEA Showcase Code production, approval pending. Artists will be paid a $500 stipend on opening night (March 19, 2022).

If you are interested in applying, please send your headshot/resume to patricia@hungerandthirsttheatre.com by Tuesday January 18 at 12:00PM. Please also share your availability on Saturday January 22 between 11-4PM.

Actors will be contacted by Wednesday January 19 if they are selected to audition. At that time, we will share their appointment time, audition location, what materials they should prepare, a rehearsal/performance schedule, a digital conflict sheet, and a document outlining logistical and safety information as well as financial transparency.
