DESCRIPTION

The Gallery Players in Park Slope is seeking actors for an upcoming weekend of staged readings which takes place on Saturday October 21st and Sunday October 22nd. We are calling the weekend "Do I Hear a Laugh?" Non-equity. No pay but small stipend. Producer, Dominic Cuskern.

The plays being read are: "The Rivals" by Richard Brinsley Sheridan, directed by Michael Blatt; "Arms and the Man" by George Bernard Shaw, directed by Gabrielle Giacomo and "An Ideal Husband" by Oscar Wilde, directed by Laura Livingston.

There will be several rehearsals for each play in order to work out the staging. But the weekend consists of three script-in-hand-performances. There is a stipend of $25 for each play an actor gets cast in.

Actors should be able to handle heightened language. Credible English accents are a plus but not determinative. It is possible the Shaw play may not be doing English accents. Good acting is the deciding factor.

IMPORTANT: We strongly encourage actors of all races and ethnicities to apply. We are definitely interested in non-traditional casting.
