About THE POSSIBILITY PROJECT:
The Possibility Project operates five-month virtual programs that bring together vastly diverse groups of youth from the five boroughs of New York City. Participants go through a creative process through which they produce a work of virtual performance art based on stories from their lives and their ideas for a more just and peaceful world. Using a proven arts-driven curriculum that combines diversity, violence prevention, problem-solving, and leadership training, The Possibility Project promotes personal and social change through unique youth-led programs.
ABOUT THE ROLE:
The Assistant Artistic Director will perform the functions outlined below:
Assist the Artistic Director in leading online discussions, team-building exercises, and performing arts workshops for groups of teenagers
Assist in the creative development of virtual scenes
Help to manage the program’s operation by performing some administrative duties as assigned by Artistic Director and Operations Manager
THE IDEAL CANDIDATE…
Will have a strong background in theater, primarily as a Director and/or Actor
Has competency in working in an online environment and using online platforms
Enjoys working with youth of diverse backgrounds and experiences
Is energetic and passionate about the empowerment of teenagers
Is both attuned and committed to social change
Works efficiently both alone and in a team setting
Will commit to The Possibility Project’s process and follow its curriculum
Has the ability to be highly organized, to work hard, manage multiple tasks, develop ideas, and create strong relationships
We are looking for Assistant Directors for our Saturday Program.
The Assistant Artistic Director should expect to commit to 6-8 hours per week to The Possibility Project.
This is an unpaid, volunteer position. Course credit can be coordinated through the candidate’s college or university if requested.
The Assistant Directors will be expected to attend the following events (some flexibility):
Rehearsals: Saturdays from 2 pm to 6 pm (October 2020 to April 2021)
Production Team Meetings: Thursdays from 5 pm to 7 pm (October 2020 to April 2021)
