The Audio Supervisor (AS) is a part-time nonexempt employee of Ballet Hispanico (BH) reporting to and assisting the Production Manager (PM). The AS provides oversight and assistance for all BH in-theatre production activities and support the production goals of Ballet Hispanico including stagecraft, audio production, studio up keep, and live mixing of musicians. The AS will execute evening-length productions and will be a part of the advance, load-in, strike for Ballet Hispanico theatrical productions. The AS is responsible for maintaining the production quality and standards set by the choreographers, designers, artists, and collaborators.

The AS will also be the critical link between all artistic aspects of a show and the backstage environment. This position is responsible for all liaisons among dancers, directors, designers, and all internal and on-site production staff. The SM must make certain that everyone and everything involved in the production, from dancers and technicians to props and lighting, is in the right place at the right time, and thus ensure the smooth running of all productions in all performance venues.

Duties and responsibilities include:

o Serves as audio supervisor/ engineer for all Ballet Hispánico theatrical productions

o Makes and maintains all Qlab files for the producitons

o Lead crews, operators, and other event staff in the execution of the audio needs

o Exude a calm demeanor while providing leadership skills, a team-first attitude, and a strong understanding of broadcast and live event production technology.

o Prepare BH audio files and other backline items for travel; manage such equipment on tour

o Create Audio call sheets, system schematics for studio and any other pertinent paperwork.

o Survey and assess all dance studios in the BH building and suggest upgrades

o Coordinate with Production Manager to ensure all technical deadlines are met.

o Assists with all aspects of load in load out for all Ballet Hispánico productions

o Assists with technical rehearsals and performances for the School

o Assist any guest audio designer/Composer with creation of new works

o Help to clean audio files and maintain the audio archive of ballets

o Work other production staff positions as assigned

o Run the audio playback during performances while on tour with BH

Valuable Skills and Abilities

o 1-3 years professional Audio experience

o Touring experience (not needed to apply)

o Familiar with Microsoft Excel and Word

o Experience mixing live musicians

o Strong knowledge of QLab 4

o Familiar with Troikatronix Isadora

o Strong communication skills

o Highly organized

o Highly self-motivated

o Ability to supervise effectively

o Ability to effectively manage projects and balance multiple priorities while maintaining a positive outlook and working effectively in a collaborative environment

o Ability to anticipate problems and take necessary action to eliminate or mitigate them.

o Ability to multitask and adapt to rapid show-flow changes in a live and fluid environment.

o Ability to interface equally well with both technical and creative members of the production.

o Takes direction well

o Valid Drivers License

o Valid Passport

o Ability to Lift 30-100lbs
