ABOUT THE POSITION

Reporting to the Senior Director of Digital Content and Marketing, the Box Office Manager is responsible for managing box office software, telephone, and in-person ticket sales, generating and analyzing sales reports, and maintaining the highest standards of customer service at Harlem Stage. The Harlem Stage Gatehouse is a performing arts center with 125 seats that hosts approximately 40 – 50 performances per year including Saturday performances.

RESPONSIBILITIES INCLUDE BUT ARE NOT LIMITED TO

  • Managing the box office at events, supporting patrons, as well as the operations team and front-of-house staff

  • Ensuring Harlem Stage patrons and guests receive exceptional customer service on the phone and in person

  • Meticulously managing customer ticket data and providing daily box office reports

  • Providing ticket and donation income reconciliation reports to the Finance team and Senior Management

  • Keeping abreast of, and offering insights and recommendations based on industry trends

  • Attending and providing updates at weekly meetings with the Marketing team and the Harlem Stage staff, including the latest box office sales

  • Maintaining and troubleshooting point-of-sales devices (ticket scanners, printers, etc.)

  • Creating targeted reports as requested by the senior management

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Three to five years of Box Office experience required

  • Bachelor’s degree preferred

  • Data Nerd preferred

  • Familiarity with box office and CRM software programs preferred

  • Must be a fast and enthusiastic learner and contributor

  • Strong organizational, administrative, verbal, and written communication skills are a must

  • Ability to work late on performance nights (including Saturdays) usually until 9:30p is required

  • Must be proficient in Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Google Workspace

  • Strong interpersonal, customer service and relationship-building skills are critical

  • Must manage tasks independently with strong attention to detail

  • Must be solution-oriented and proactively troubleshoot technical issues

  • The ability to problem-solve and manage customer inquiries and issues while maintaining composure is a must

SALARY AND BENEFITS

  • $65,000 annual salary
