Company Management & Box Office Intern


  • The historic New London Barn is accepting applications for the 2018 Company Management and Box Office Internship. Our internship program is an excellent opportunity for emerging arts professionals to gain practical, hands on experience in a professional theater setting. Through close mentoring with our staff, interns will collaborate on a diverse array of projects, and our goal is to provide interns with the tools & resources to grow into competitive professionals in the field.

    Internship duties to include:

    Assist Company Manager with housing opening and closing, prepping housing for the top of the season, ‘love your housing’ at the end of the summer, check-in/check-outs of guest artists and staff, and liaising with Colby Sawyer College and other rental properties
  • Basic knowledge and maintenance of the housing matrix
  • Assisting with changeover for rooms between guest artists and employees
  • Monitor housing supplies and cleaning needs
  • Monitor office supplies and medical supplies both in housing and throughout the various Barn facilities
  • Assist with pickup and drop-off for guest artists and employees, including airport runs, Dartmouth Coach in New London and Lebanon, and Amtrak in White River Junction
  • Provide basic knowledge about company business when new employees arrive onsite (company car rules, parking rules, doctor visits, town suggestions…)
  • Know where to take employees for doctor appointments (LifeLong Care or ER for emergencies)
  • Helping to organize company cast parties and opening night champagne toasts and providing ‘DD’ drives home from said events when needed
  • Other duties as assigned by Company Manager
  • All duties listed above are to be completed in coordination with work in the Box Office, including printing and distributing will-call tickets, handling walk-up sales, stuffing programs, and staffing the Box Office during weekly shifts

The position calls for an individual who is highly responsible, detail-oriented, and computer-proficient. The ideal candidate will have their own car and prior management or organization experience. This position offers lots of opportunity for a self-starter to have a real impact on an establish, respected organization.

Internship begins May 20 or earlier and run through the end of the season on September 6 (end date negotiable for students returning to school), with an estimated 30 hours per week. Internship stipend available; dormitory-style housing and all meals included. Position requires evening and weekend hours.
