DESCRIPTION

Draper/stitcher for puppets

Rockefeller Productions is currently seeking experienced drapers, stitchers, and costumers to fabricate small and large-scale characters for live theater at our Queens, New York City-based facility.

Applicants should be self-motivated, organized, and have a positive attitude. An acute attention to detail, accuracy, and the ability to work efficiently both independently and as part of a team are essential.

Applicants will be required to work on precise components of a design while simultaneously maintaining an understanding of the whole project. Previous experience working with puppets is not required.

Rockefeller Productions is a multi-faceted entertainment company that specializes in high quality family entertainment for the stage, screen, and immersive events for domestic and international markets.

Our productions include beloved characters from iconic properties such as The Very Hungry Caterpillar Show, Paddington Bear, That Golden Girls Show, Disney’s Winnie the Pooh: The New Musical Stage Adaptation, and Pixar Putt along with several major titles in development.

We are a fully vaccinated shop.

Required Skills

· 3+ years of experience as a draper/stitcher

· Draping and flat-patterning skins and garments

· Ability to operate home and/or industrial sewing machines, sergers, and steam irons

· Finely developed hand-sewing skills

· Experience with faux fur and stretch fabrics or a willingness to learn

· Ability to supervise others in assembly of skins and garments

· Alteration of existing pieces

· Ability to interpret character sketches

· Ability to estimate yardage of fabric and trims

· Able to take direction and constructive criticism well

· An appreciation for detail, neat work, and clear documentation

· Previous experience working in a shop is preferred

Salary

Starting salary: $30/hour
