DESCRIPTION

WTF is looking to engage a grant writer on a contract basis to draft and revise narrative for LOIs, grant applications, and grant reports.  The grant writer will also be responsible for submitting application and report materials and collaborating with the Development Coordinator to manage and maintain the institutional grants plan.

This opportunity offers an excellent introduction to grant writing for the arts, though WTF hopes to engage an individual with some experience interning or working in a Development office at a comparable not-for-profit arts organization.

WTF seeks to engage a grant writer with a keen eye for detail and a commitment to excellence who exhibits exemplary time management skills and the ability to work independently to produce concise and inspiring narrative that speaks to WTF’s outstanding programs and art.

Though grant applications and reports are spread throughout the year, the number of active projects varies week-to-week, with some weeks very quiet and others very busy.  Candidates will have to have the flexibility in their schedule in order to meet project deadlines and collaborate with WTF staff members.

To apply, please email grants@wtfestival.org with your resume, cover letter, and 2-3 references.

DUTIES:

  • Draft and revise narrative for grant LOIs, applications, and reports (approximately 42 grants/year)

  • Submit grant LOIs, applications, and reports on time

  • Manage and maintain WTF’s institutional grants plan as directed by the Development Coordinator and Director of Development & Communications

  • Seek out information from internal and external sources for the development of draft narrative

  • Further support WTF’s institutional giving activities by proofreading other grant applications completed by WTF staff

  • Embrace the Festival’s commitment to EDI and Anti-racism by actively participating in and encouraging behaviors among staff members that exemplify respect; interrupting microaggressions and other behaviors that hinder our EDI and anti-racism efforts; and demonstrating a degree of cultural competency that encourages healthy relationships with all company members

  • At the request of WTF's Development Staff, research additional grant opportunities for WTF

  • Other duties as assigned

REQUIREMENTS:

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills; able to quickly craft and deliver clear, accurate, and engaging messaging in both internal and external communications

  • Experience working or interning in a fast-paced nonprofit arts environment (specifically Development) preferred

  • Capable of handling multiple projects and prioritizing appropriately

  • Willingness to see projects through to completion

  • Able to foster a cooperative environment

  • High level of computer aptitude and proficiency in Google Workspace

  • Must maintain confidentiality and security of sensitive patron and company information
