Master Electrician

The historic Cape Playhouse in Dennis, MA — the theatre where Broadway goes to summer- is accepting resumes for a Master Electrician for our 2023 Summer Season which includes productions of Ain’t Misbehavin’, Sense and Sensibility, Jersey Boys, An American in Paris, Camelot, and Baskerville.

The master electrician is responsible for organizing the season electrics rental package and working with lighting designers to determine the additional rental needs of each production. They advance, prep, hang and focus all light plots. They will maintain the electrics shop area, keeping it clean and making sure that it is a safe working environment. The Master Electrician oversees all load-ins, strikes, tech rehearsals, and assist the development staff with any lighting needs for Playhouse events. A detailed proficiency of moving lights and programing of console is required. The master electrician must possess sufficient strength and stamina to lift and carry up to 50 pounds and perform physical activities such as, but not limited to, lifting, bending, standing, climbing.

The Cape Playhouse values tradition, hard work, kindness, generosity, passion, and professionalism. A degree in Lighting Design/Electrics or similar and two years of professional experience required. Must have excellent communication skills, high energy, the ability to lead crews, and be organized. Skill set should include programing, hanging, focusing, soldering, and the ability to lead up to 8 electricians, apprentices, and other relevant staff during light changeovers.

The Master Electrician also has the ability to serve as a Lighting Designer on a select number of our mainstage shows depending on relevant experience and proficiency.

The Master Electrician reports to the Technical Director. Position begins on the Cape in mid-May and continues through mid-September. Competitive salary, plus private housing.
