OTHER
Artistry Theater is grateful to be creating theater again with and for our community. As we prepare to re-open we are mindful of the events of the past 15 months - what we have lost and what we have learned. We are
committed to creating a more inclusive and equitable space for all to see themselves in the
magic of this art form we love. We are putting practices into place to make sure we are safe,
have room to be brave and to create space that is intentional in its diversity and accessibility.

Equity’s contracts prohibit discrimination.
Equity is committed to diversity and encourages all its employers to engage in apolicy of equal employment opportunity
designed to promote a positive model of inclusion. As such, Equity encourages
performers of all ethnicities, gender identities, and ages, as well as performers with disabilities, to submit.

SEEKING
Equity actors for roles in MEMPHIS (see breakdown). Twin City local actors encouraged to submit. Adults 18+.
The safety of our audience and theatermakers is our number one priority. As a result, we require that all artists and staff working on our theater productions be fully vaccinated against COVID-19. In addition, we follow the latest City, State, and Federal guidelines as well as guidelines set forth by Actors’ Equity Association.

BREAKDOWN
Inspired by actual events in the turbulent south of the 1950s, Memphis is the story of Huey Calhoun
and Felicia Ferrell – one a white radio DJ whose passion for music transcends race lines; the other a
Black singer, talented and determined to share her voice. As their love of music and each other grow,
their lives and communities intersect, causing encounters with prejudices that challenge them to
reconsider their relationships, priorities, and dreams. Featuring an original score with music by David
Bryan, founding member of Bon Jovi.

Memphis will be directed by Aimee K. Bryant, an emerging director whose 25 years performing for
companies ranging from Ten Thousand Things Theatre to the Guthrie inform her sensibilities behind
the table. Her most recent acting credits include What to Send Up at Pillsbury House, Dining with the
Ancestors at the Guthrie, Riddle Puzzle Plot with Park Square Theater, and Promise of America with
MN Jewish Theater.Inspired by actual events in the turbulent south of the 1950s, Memphis is the story of Huey Calhoun
