Amas Musical Theatre
Amas Musical Theatre is seeking interns to work as Production Assistants in support of the upcoming Dare to Be Different Festival, a series of four new musicals and four one-night only special events running January 25 – February 20. Rehearsals begin January 19, 2022.
Production Assistants explore many aspects of artistic administration and production. Providing hands-on opportunities in rehearsal and performance, interns will work closely with the Artistic Producer and Amas directors and staff, learning about and participating in everything that goes into producing theatre at one of New York’s leading Off-Broadway non-profits now in its 52nd season.
Applicants should possess a love of theatre, strong organizational and problem-solving skills, and excellent communications skills.
Amas Musical Theatre is devoted to the creation, development and professional production of new American musicals through the celebration of diversity and minority perspectives, the emergence of new artistic talent, and the training and encouragement of underserved young people in the New York area.
Amas (Latin for "you love") was founded in 1968 by actress/producer Rosetta LeNoire (1911-2002), who saw musical theatre as a collaborative art form uniquely suited to the promotion of understanding within and across cultures. Long a pioneer of multiculturalism in the theatre, in recent years, under the leadership of Artistic Producer Donna Trinkoff, Amas has also emerged as a valued laboratory for composers, lyricists and librettists for the development of their work.
