The Ocala Civic Theatre in Ocala, FL is welcoming applications for the position of Production Intern. OCT is a professionally produced community theater that produces classic and contemporary plays and musicals and is dedicated to telling diverse stories involving the community. OCT produces six mainstage plays per season as well as education shows and workshops. We are committed to supporting the unique needs of the community while fostering an environment of fun and learning. Located two hours north of Orlando, OCT is located within easy reach of most of Florida.
OCT Production Department consists of a Production Manager, Technical Director, Costume Director, Production Intern, and Costume Interns and Volunteers who work on all productions. The Production Intern will work under the supervision of the Production Manager and Technical Director in the scenic shop. The Production Intern assists in executing scenic, and lighting, and sound designs for all productions as well as other opportunities across departments.
Applicants should be able to lift and carry 50lbs, comfortable working on ladders up to 20’ tall, have a basic knowledge of common theatrical painting techniques and carpentry skills and should be positive, flexible, willing to learn, and should be equally comfortable with teamwork and self-directed projects.
Position is full time seasonal, from August 3rd to June 25th. These dates are flexible and can be negotiated. All interns are provided free air conditioned shared housing that is fully furnished and within walking distance of the theaters and workspaces (also air conditioned) and given a $150 weekly stipend. It is recommended the interns have their own transportation.
