DESCRIPTION

Synopsis:

A group of women come together in a purgatory/bardo from which men are conspicuously absent. As they debate how to interpret their situation, they reveal to each other both shared values and deep divisions. And as strange sounds and vibrations make them more nervous about their eventual fate, they risk showing each other their truest selves.

Seeking:

Equity or non-equity actor for the role of Liv a transgender woman, to join the production of Pod, premiering at The New Stage Theatre Company, an award-winning theatre company founded in 2002 by Hungarian Native Ildiko Nemeth.

New York City locals are encouraged to submit. Housing and transportation are not provided.

Liv – (transgender woman, early 30s-40s, any ethnicity) Everything has been happening: acting, directing, writing, interviews, a nonprofit… she’s in the cut and thrust of everything, but still feels the beating heart of life is elsewhere. Ambitious but unsettled. Her purgatorial ritual is workaholism, her lack is her nagging sense that she should be somewhere else, someone else.
