2021 Season:  
All Covid-19 regulations by the CDC are in effect for our 2021 season. If we are required to transition to virtual programming in the summer, all contracts will be honored. Mrs. Hank, Milestones, Southern Appalachian Christmas, and Christmas Carol will be virtual. Legally Blonde: The Musical will be replaced with a smaller virtual musical and pushed to 2022. All performers contracted for Legally Blonde will be offered a renewed contract in 2022.

A Play in Two Acts with the Songs of Hank Williams, Sr.

Rehearsals begin on or around May 30th, 2021 

Known as “The Hillbilly Shakespeare,” Hank Williams’ music was inspired by his marriage with the great love of his life, Miss Audrey Mae Sheppard Williams, Mrs. Hank. Twenty years after Hank’s death, Audrey hallucinates her tumultuous marriage to Hank through duets of his greatest songs in a honkytonk Opry-Etta set on the stage of the Grand Ole Opry. 

Legally Blonde: The Musical

Based on the novel and the hit movie of the same name, Legally Blonde: the Musical chronicles the journey of the famously perky Elle Woods, a fashion-savvy, UCLA sorority girl who finds her life turned upside down when she is dumped by her boyfriend Warner. To prove to Warner that she is more than just some blonde sorority girl, she follows him to Harvard Law, where she struggles to fit in and do well. Ultimately, she defies expectations and manages to stay true to her delightfully pink personality.

Sara hasn’t been home for Christmas since she moved to New York six years ago.  Now, for the first time in years, Sara is back in her hometown, celebrating with the family and friends she left behind.  During this visit, she learns exactly what’s most important to her and gains a new respect for where she came from.  It’s a story of love, hope, and cheer during the holiday season.

Mrs. Hank 

HANK WILLIAMS, SR: Male Identifying, Any Ethnicity to play 29. A south Alabama hillbilly singer. He dresses in high priced western suits and always wears a Stetson; must play guitar. 

AUDRY WILLIAMS: Female Identifying, Any Ethnicity to play 54 and 20. Hank’s first wife, later his professional widow; a blond Alabama beauty, sweet and exuberant and sure. 

LYCRECIA WILLIAMS: Female Identifying, Any Ethnicity to play 36. Audrey’s daughter, Hank’s step-daughter. 


Legally Blonde: The Musical  

ELLE WOODS: Gb3-G5 Soprano Belt, Female Identifying, Any Ethnicity. Elle is a sorority girl who follows her ex-boyfriend to Harvard Law School and realizes that she has more than just a pretty face and a bubbly personality to offer the world! She is lovable, determined, vulnerable, energetic, and outgoing!. Must be comfortable with dogs.  

EMMETT FORREST (Role Cast): B2-A4 Tenor, Male Identifying, Any Ethnicity. Emmett is a smart, quirky, sensitive, and personable law student. He ends up taking Elle under his wing and believes in her when it seems that no one else does. Must be comfortable with dogs. A strong singer/actor with great comedic timing!  

PAULETTE BUONOFUONTE (Role Cast): A3-A5 Soprano Belt, Female Identifying, Any Ethnicity. Paulette is the funny owner of Hair Affair, a local salon. She becomes friends with Elle and longs to marry a man from Ireland. She and Elle help each other achieve their dreams! Must be comfortable with dogs. The ability to do a Bostonian accent is a plus, a strong singer with a powerful belt to match the personality 

PILAR: G#3-F5 Belt, Female Identifying, Any Ethnicity. Pilar is the sassy and sensible sorority sister. Margot, Serena, & Pilar are Elle's entourage who follow her through the story acting as her “Greek Chorus”. Strong singers and dancers with good comic timing and youthful energy!  

MARGOT: G#3-F5 Belt, Female Identifying, Any Ethnicity. Margot is the seemingly dim-witted, boy-crazy sorority sister. Margot, Serena, & Pilar are Elle's entourage who follow her through the story acting as her “Greek Chorus”. Strong singers and dancers with good comic timing and youthful energy!  

SERENA (Role Cast): G#3-F5 Belt, Female Identifying, Any Ethnicity. Serena is the energetic cheerleader sorority sister. Margot, Serena, & Pilar are Elle's entourage who follow her through the story acting as her “Greek Chorus”. Strong singers and dancers with good comic timing and youthful energy!  

PROFESSOR CALLAHAN: A2-F#4 Baritone, Male Identifying, Any Ethnicity. Callahan is a pompous and manipulative law professor at Harvard. Callahan should be charismatic but able to turn instantly into a conniving shark at the turn of a hat.  

WARNER HUNTINGTON III: Eb3-Ab4 Tenor, Male Identifying, Any Ethnicity. Warner is attractive and charming but very self-absorbed. He will do whatever it takes to achieve his dream of becoming a senator, including breaking Elle’s heart. The actor must be very comfortable on stage to best display the character’s charisma!  

VIVIENNE KENSINGTON: A3-Ab5 Soprano Belt, Female Identifying, Any Ethnicity. Vivienne is an overachieving, stuck-up, wealthy, smart, and savvy law student who is intellectually driven. Yet she feels very threatened by Elle's presence at Harvard.  

BROOKE WYNDHAM: A3-G5 Alto or Soprano, Female Identifying, Any Ethnicity. Brooke is an exercise video star and former Delta Nu sorority girl who was “accused of murder” Must be able to perform high-level aerobics with enough stamina to continue singing.  

KYLE B. O'BOYLE: Male Identifying, Any Ethnicity. Kyle is a smooth-talking UPS delivery man. We soon find out that he is Paulette's dream guy. Must be comfortable with dogs. Must be a strong singer and mover.  

ENID HOOPS: G3-G5 Soprano Belt, Female Identifying, Any Ethnicity. Enid is a strong, opinionated, feminist law student at Harvard. Great comedic timing! 

ENSEMBLE: Any Gender, Any Ethnicity to play a variety of characters including Delta Nu’s,  Harvard Students, and other supporting roles. Must be strong singers and actors. Some ensemble members will be called back to dance.

FRANK BRYCE: Male Identifying to play age 60-70, Any Ethnicity. Retired Health Club Manager, independent, reticent, multiple health issues; Knoxville, TN 

ROZ PRICHARD: Female Identifying to play age 50-60, Any Ethnicity. Youthful, creative, busy, active; Harlan, KY 

PHIL PRICHARD: Male Identifying to play age 60-70, Any Ethnicity. Her husband with a roving eye for pretty ladies; Harlan, KY 

GWEN WELLS: Female Identifying to play age 55, Any Ethnicity. Sally’s artistic friend for 45 years; Bristol, VA 


A Southern Appalachian Christmas  

SARA HUTCHINSON: Female Identifying to play 28, Any Ethnicity. Sara, originally from Asheville, NC works in an advertising agency in NYC.  As she has grown older, she returns home less frequently, content with her new life, and doesn't feel the need to revisit her past life in the mountains.  

RYAN HUTCHINSON: Male Identifying to play age 30, Any Ethnicity. Ryan is the optimistic husband of Sara.  Never seen Sara's hometown, am excited about this holiday season and getting to know Sara's family.  

SUE CRAWFORD: Female Identifying to play late 50’s, Any Ethnicity, Sue is Sara's bubbly mother, works as a Kindergarten teacher at the local elementary school.  While she is very proud of her daughter's achievements she misses her dearly and is very happy to have her home for the holidays.  

BILL CRAWFORD: Male Identifying to play late 50’s, Any Ethnicity, Bill is Sara's father and a wholesome Southern gentleman.  Spent his life working hard to raise his family and feels that he missed out on parts of his daughter's life.  With her coming back, he is hoping to rekindle the relationship they once had.  

FORD CRAWFORD: Male Identifying to play 25, Any Ethnicity. Ford, Sara's younger brother, and single father, has a slight resentment for her leaving town but still loves her dearly, works at the hardware store to provide for his child 

IAN/ELLA CRAWFORD: Any Gender to play 6-8 years old, Any Ethnicity, Ian/Ella, Ford's child. They are a spunky little character and very excited for Christmas time and to meet his Aunt for the first time!  They just want to talk about Santa and presents and all the good things about Christmas.  

MARY BETH ALLEN: Female Identifying to play 28, Any Ethnicity. Sara's friend from high school.  She married her college sweetheart Joe Buck Allen and moved back to Mars Hill right after graduation.  A sweet but feisty woman who does not regret any of the choices she has made in her life. .  While she and Sara are not as close as they used to be, she is more excited than ever to catch up with her.      

JOE BUCK ALLEN: Male Identifying to play 28, Any Ethnicity, Mary Beth's husband.  An accountant that works in downtown Asheville, a non-traditional businessman who shows that you can't judge like a book by its cover 

ENSEMBLE: Any Gender, Any Ethnicity. Cast to play various roles, some may be required to dance

Please submit your headshot and resume and audition material in an unlisted youtube link to the email link below with the “Name of Show; Character Name” in the subject. 
Mrs. Hank: For the role of Hank Williams, Sr. please submit the song “Honky Tonkin’” and a Hank Williams song of your choice, with self-accompaniment on the guitar. For the roles of Audrey and Lycrecia please submit two contrasting monologues. 
Legally Blonde: The Musical: Please submit a pop/rock uptempo song as well as a dance reel if available. Callbacks will be held virtually through submission in February. 
Milestones: Please submit two age-appropriate contrasting monologues. 
A Southern Appalachian Christmas: Please submit a classic Christmas song (acapella submissions will be accepted), and a contemporary monologue.
